The Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is located in the Ras Al Hadd Turtle Reserve, a world-renowned turtle nesting site. Ras Al Jinz is a fishing village located in the Ras Al Hadd Turtle Reserve on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Ras Al Jinz Beach is world-renowned for its nesting of the endangered green turtle (Cheloniamydas), and is perhaps one of the most important nesting areas along the Indian Ocean coast. It is the only place where the public gathers to witness and observe the nesting of these giant and amazing sea turtles.
The Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve was established by Royal Decree in 1996 and is now the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Centre. Established in 2008 with the aim of preserving one of the rarest natural phenomena: the amazing nesting activities of giant sea turtles. It is truly a first-class eco-tourism project.
The centre organizes guided tours every night to observe the turtles nesting. All of the centre's guidelines stipulate a commitment to turtle conservation.
