Al-Aija Fort, located in Al-Aija, is known as Al-Hamouda Castle. It is a square-shaped building with several rooms dedicated to science and the management of the region's affairs. It has four towers overlooking the coast and Al-Rafsa Fort, which was formerly used to guard the main gate of the governorate's entrance from the land road. An iron chain was even placed on it to stop anyone entering or exiting it for security and protection purposes. Al-Aija's defenses include a wall and a tower on the western side, as well as a series of small towers to the south of the fort. One of the most important towers is Ras Al-Mail Tower, located on a high hill. This tower was likely built in 1347 AH.
